About the Artist

Arno Elias is a French American artist, Photographer, Musician and Activist, born in 1973, Paris France.

He is best known for his hand-painted, hand-embellished photographs of endangered species and indigenous peoples, both of whom have been devastated by the impacts of industrialization. Through the act of hand-painting and hand-embellishing each image, Elias weaves into each image multiple simultaneous narratives and layers of meaning that represent the complicated conversations surrounding globalization, industrialization, and best practices for conservation of both endangered animals and traditional ways of life.
